Travel tips for the enlightened traveler
The enlightened traveler is more interested in the natural world than in shopping and attractions that require a ticket for admission. These suggestions are based on years of work as a photographer/videographer/artist who has spent years watching and learning.
Most of my work has been based in New England..... Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont.
These travel tips can work anywhere. Hopefully, these suggestions will bring you as much joy as winning the lottery or meeting the love of your life.
- Spend no more than one hour a day in your car (after arriving at your destination)
- Bring human or naturally powered transportation with you...hiking boots,
bicycle, sea kayak, or sailboat
- Bring a camera or sketch book with you to act as a license to ponder the miracles around you. It is not necessary to have film in your camera!
- Walk slowly, coast frequently while you bike, allow your boat to drift, stop regularly
- Bring clothing for all weather conditions, a walk in the rain can bring as much joy as sunbathing on a beach.
- Value your artistic self. An artist is someone who sees. I believe that you do not have to create anything to be an artist! Learn to see light, color, compostion, reflections, shadows, and the rhythms of the universe
- Appreciate the gift each person you meet in your travels brings you.
